My chosen login name 'Erceldoune' is a reference to Thomas of Erceldoune, better known as True Thomas or Thomas the Rhymer. Thomas dwelt in Faeryland for a time as the guest of the queen and was given the gift of prophesy. He was know as 'True' because he supposedly could not tell a lie. I personally do not claim to have visited Faery or to only say things that are true, but I do consider it an important personal goal to know truth and to communicate it whenever and to the extent practical.

By truth I don't mean eternal verities carved in stone, but rather good enough models of reality, balancing accuracy with simplicity and ability to be communicated. Accuracy is obviously important but my mind is limited in what it can encompass, hence the need for simplicity. And truth should be communicable if it is to serve more than one mind. Truths can be communicated only to the extent that the receiver is ready to receive, which also limits accuracy.

By reality I mean everything, of which the physical is only one part.
